When you are about to tie the knot with someone who was chosen for you by your family, and you are still getting to know them, you may need a specific kind of guidance and support. For arranged marriages, we provide a therapeutic space that is accepting and sensitive to the needs of this specific group of couples.

As part of an arranged marriage, the client is often sexually inexperienced and has not had much physical contact with the partner before marriage, which may cause them to feel shame or inadequacy. There is a tendency among us to feel the pressure to make our partner happy or to be knowledgeable lovers. There may be a feeling of shyness among women about the way their body looks and when it comes to having sex. And both spouses may not know what they want in terms of sexual fulfillment. In addition, to getting to know someone intimately and sexually, there may be pressure to start a family, something that could feel extremely stressful, hindering the natural progression of getting to know someone intimately and sexually.
While treating those who are in arranged marriages in practice, we have seen a number of challenges that include a lack of sexual education, erectile dysfunction, and discomfort or pain that is directly related to the body’s sexual organs.
